The ancestors of humans had a lot more hair than the humans of today; in fact, they had thick hair all over their bodies. This thick hair was necessary for protection against the cold of the Ice Ages.
As Earth got warmer, the hair began to thin out, except for on the head. I. MISTAKES: NHƯNG SAI LẦM KHI LÀM BÀI READING COMPREHENSION
1. Tâm lí của học sinh: sợ, không tự tin vào bản thân có thể làm được dẫn đến không làm và ĐÁNH LỤI.
2. Cố gắng dịch toàn bộ Reading Passage – Bài đọc. Câu hỏi nào cũng đọc hoặc dịch toàn bộ bài đọc dẫn đến không đủ thời gian làm bài.
3. Không phân loại câu hỏi – loại câu hỏi nào cũng làm cùng một cách.
4. Không xác định được key words của từng câu hỏi.
5. Dùng hiểu biết và kiến thức của bản thân để trả lời câu hỏi – Không dựa vào thông tin của bài đọc.
6. Vội vàng chọn đáp án – không đọc hết các phương án lựa chọn A, B, C, D.
7. Trả lời câu hỏi theo thứ tự từ 1 đến hết.
II. TIPS – MẸO LÀM BÀI HIỆU QUẢ VÀ NHANH CHÓNG
1. Đọc lướt qua toàn bộ bài đọc một lần để lấy ý chính (skimming) – không dịch từng câu từng chữ.
2. Đọc tất cả các câu hỏi trước khi trả lời từng câu.
3. Phần loại câu hỏi và xác định key words và gạch chân cho từng câu hỏi ngay trên Đề thi hoặc ghi ngắn gọn ra giấy nháp.
4. Trả lời các câu hỏi cùng loại trước.
5. Những câu hỏi dạng Main idea và Inference trả lời sau cùng.
6. Eliminate wrong answer first – Loại bỏ phương án sai trước. (Đặc biệt quan trọng)
7. Sau khi đã trả lời tất cả các câu hỏi xong, NÊN so sánh các đáp án vì nhiều khi các câu hỏi có thể tự trả lời cho nhau hoặc có 2 đáp án mâu thuẫn nhau.
8. Đôi khi, từ vựng có thể được trình bày, diễn đạt theo cách khác như: từ đồng nghĩa (synonym), từ trái nghĩa (antonym), giải thích (explanation), định nghĩa (definition)…
9. Trang bị từ vựng cần thiết – theo topics và học những từ tần suất xuất hiện nhiều lần.
10. Điều quan trọng nhất đối với đề trắc nghiệm là loại trừ đáp án.
